Ship from China to Bolivia, there are three forms of shipments: sea cargo, air cargo and international courier.
The following is going to present the three means of shipments and their prices:
1. Ocean shipping
Bolivia is a landlocked country, but importers can also bring merchandise by sea.
The containers can be sent to the port of Arica or Iquique in Chile, and from there they bring the merchandise by land transport.
In this case, it is important to put the observation "Cargo in transit to Bolivia" in the Bill of lading. Thus, the cargo will be considered as a cargo imported by Bolivians and the nationalization procedures will be carried out at the Bolivian customs instead of Chile.
Due to the unbalance of containers around the world, the large volume of merchandise of Asian origin, reduction of labor in ports after the covid-19 pandemic, maritime freight continues to rise and the current freight (2021-June) is already many times higher than the 2020 average price.

The freight varies and is updated each two weeks. To ensure shipment, it is advisable to reserve shipment 2-3 weeks before the merchandise is ready.
2. Air cargo
Air cargo is the fastest way to send urgent or high-value merchandise. It is preferable to send merchandise of more than 100 kilos.
The airports in China that have international cargo flights are CAN, SZX, PVG, PEK, HKG. The flight to La Paz has transit in the United States or Europe, transit 7 to 15 days.
Air freight is dynamic every week. Current air freight from china is more than 10 dollars per kilo.
3. International courier (DHL, UPS, FEDEX)
It is preferable to send merchandise of less than 100 kilos.
If the merchandise has 100-150 kilos, sending by air cargo or international courier are viable options. Courier transit time is a bit longer than air freight. The companies offer variable price services according to the transit time. It will take 10-20 days. Packages of less than 38 kilos are free to do paperwork for nationalization. The limit to import by this way is 4000 dollars per year.
