1.Why fumigation?
In international trade, in order to protect own resources, countries impose compulsory quarantine systems on some imported goods. Wood packaging fumigation is a mandatory measure taken to prevent harmful pests from harming the forest resources of the importing country. Therefore, for export goods containing wood packaging, the wood packaging must be detoxified before shipment. Fumigation is one of the methods of detoxification.
2.What kind of wood packaging requires fumigation (sterilization)?
Generally refers to materials used for packaging, bedding, supporting, and strengthening goods. Such as wooden crates, wooden crates, wooden pallets, wooden barrels, etc. All logs must be fumigated and marked with IPPC.
3.What are the fumigation methods?
There are two methods of fumigation: drug use and heat treatment. Drug treatment generally uses: methyl bromide and ethylene oxide.
Bulk fumigation
Whole container fumigation
Whole ship fumigation
4.What is the IPPC logo?
Wooden packaging should be stamped with the special logo of IPPC。
IPPC=International Plant Protection Convention. The IPPC logo is used to identify wood packaging that meets the IPPC standard, indicating that the packaging has been processed by the IPPC quarantine standard. In addition, some countries do not issue a fumigation certificate after accepting fumigation, instead, the IPPC logo is printed on the outer carton to indicate that it has been fumigated.
5.Free Fumigation
Fumigation-free wooden materials are plywood, fiberboard, etc., after through artificial synthesis or deep processing such as heating and pressure, insects and insect eggs hidden in the wood will not cause invasion and damage to the importing country. Therefore, such wooden materials do not need to be fumigated, such as the common PLYWOOD PACKING, MDF PACKING. Plywood packaging, see the picture below.
