As an importer is essential that your purchasing agents or broker in China makes quality controls of the purchased commodities. Such control may be in quantity or during the loading of the container. The purpose of this inspection is to ensure that all merchandise is shipped and includes each of the items specified in the bill of lading.
And how that control is done?
There are several methods to perform the quality inspection of the goods: count packages one by one at the time of loading; removal of a random sample, which typically ranges between 5 or 10% of the packing list; weigh or count merchandise and retail packages included in the packing list.
In our case, we opted for a mix of the first and third inspection technique. But when the order of a client include bulks from many manufacturers or stores, we usually choose the fourth method.
We, as purchasing agents or brokers, usually include this service in our fees, but there are some buyers who only need to hire the service of quality inspection, which price is calculated based on the cost incurred, such as travel expenses and other extra fees related to the technical specifications of the inspection itself.
In short, make quality control of the goods is an essential step if we want to prevent unpleasant surprises or generate losses. We recommend that you always make it, either with your purchasing agent or a specialized quality control agency.
