The interior of a RoRo ship
RoRo is short for “Roll-on, Roll off”, which describes how products are loaded and discharged from a vessel. Different from container ships, on which the containers are being lifted onboard using cranes, RoRo ship allows the self-propelled products, such as cars and tractors, roll on and off the vessel on their own wheels. Even not self-propelled products can be placed on handling equipment with wheels.
The interior of a RoRo ship is like a huge parking lot. The proportion of liftable deck space in which the floor and ceiling are moveable provides greater flexibility to accommodate vehicles of different sizes.
