Hong Kong, officially the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is a city and special administrative region of China on the eastern Pearl River Delta in South China.

It´s special because of the history of colonization. It was established as a colony of the British Empire after the Qing Empire ceded Hong Kong Island at the end of the First Opium War in 1841 then again in 1842. Thanks to the effort of the leaders of People´s Republic of China, then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher of Britain agreed to return Hong Kong to China in 1997 after continuous negotiations. The whole territory was transferred to China in 1997. To ensure a stable life for Hong Kong residents, the government of Chinese mainland decided to maintain Hong Kong’s legal, administrative, and judicial systems. So now it’s a relatively autonomous region that has its own systems.

Hong Kong is one of the world's most significant financial centers and commercial ports. It is the world's tenth-largest exporter and ninth-largest importer. Hong Kong has a major capitalist service economy characterized by low taxation and free trade. But it doesn’t mean that Hong Kong has strong industry of manufacture. Actually, most of the goods exported from Hong Kong is of origin from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong plays a roll of hub. Hong Kong has its own customs, transporting goods from Chinese mainland to Hong Kong also need to pass the Chinese mainland customs and Hong Kong customs. All the procedures are the same of exportation from Chinese mainland to the overseas.
