Why is the freight more expensive than my goods?

Especially, when the value of the goods is less than one thousand dollars, the cost they need to pay until the goods are in their country is higher than buying the goods directly in their country.

Why does this happen? When a person buys a small quantity product on Aliexpress or Alibaba, the suppliers sell to them at retail. Obviously, the price is higher than wholesale. In addition, shipping small volume goods by air is expensive, and it is also not convenient to ship by sea because of the small volume. Thus, the cost of product, international freight, taxes and duties add up to an expensive amount. On the other hand, if an importer can invest more than ten dollars in the import, he can buy from manufacturers and find a better price. Then shipping goods by sea is cheaper. This is the reason why many people think buying directly from China instead of buying from importers in their country is cheaper, but it turns out to be the opposite.
